Old School Bodybuilding Techniques

Golden Age Bodybuilding with Free Weights

There are many old school bodybuilding techniques which if applied could be as effective as when they were first used. In the golden era of bodybuilding it was all about who could lift the most weight and these techniques helped the athletes accomplish that goal, which is probably why during that era the bodybuilders were bigger and more muscular than any other era.

One of these techniques was known as forced reps. The idea behind this method was to do as many reps as your body could handle and after that point to do a few reps your body couldn't handle. It could only be described as a set extending method because you got work done even after your body was unable to continue on ward. It was the first method in which the athletes would push their bodies until their bodies really couldn't go any farther and you would get the same amount of reps done in half the time, due to the fact when your body is in that state your body feels allot heavier that it usually would. How it would be done is after your body couldn't take anymore you would do two to three more reps with a partner because it wasn't seen as being safe doing it alone.

Another technique was known as flushing and with this technique you would work a certain body part until it was fully pumped. This was the art of flushing out a certain body part the same way your face gets red from working out intensely.

Another method known as muscle spinning was also used. Now this was the method of using light weights and high reps in a very strict yet rhythmic style. Now this method didn't have the users getting stronger but but it was a very effective method in getting more muscle size.

Used today these methods have the potential to do great things. Many of these methods have been pushed away as distant memories, maybe one day they will come back and prove to be as effective as they truly are.
